  • Glenwood Park Continues Enhancement with New Shelters

Mercer County, WV — Glenwood Park is receiving further upgrades with the addition of two new commercially-built shelters, approved for purchase by the Mercer County Commission on Tuesday. The shelters, representing a nearly $20,000 investment, will enhance park amenities and provide additional convenience for visitors.

One shelter will be placed near the park’s gazebo, providing a covered space for weddings and other gatherings in this picturesque area. The second shelter will be located near the pickleball courts and may house rental equipment for various sports including pickleball, basketball, and tennis.

“We are dedicated to continually enhancing Glenwood Park and providing a high-quality recreational experience for our residents and visitors,” said Commissioner Greg Puckett. “These new shelters are part of our ongoing effort to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone.”

The Commission has invested over a million dollars in Glenwood Park in recent years, including upgrades to the basketball and tennis courts, a new outdoor amphitheater stage, and picnic shelters. This latest addition reflects the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the park as a valuable community asset, even during the upcoming lake draining and dredging scheduled for next April.

“We want to ensure that Glenwood Park remains a vibrant and attractive destination for outdoor recreation,” added Puckett. “These improvements will allow people to continue enjoying the park while the lake undergoes necessary revitalization work.”
