Recent Accomplishments
- A project team meeting was held on June 30, 2025, with DWTRF, VDH, and WVIJDC.
- The easement condemnation process is ongoing, and Winfrey Law has filed the condemnations for the remaining easements. The team is currently waiting on the remaining right of entry orders.
Schedule: July 2025
- The team is to receive the remaining right of entry orders for the easement condemnations.
- The team will continue to discuss funding procedures with the funding agencies.
- Project team meetings with DWTRF and WVIJDC will continue on July 15, 2025.
Issues
- Funding needs to be secured.
- Easements need to be secured so that the Final Title Opinion can be issued.
- Authorization to Bid needs to be obtained.
- EPA funds cannot be used for condemnations; however, other eligible funds can be used to pay for the condemnation of easements.
Project Scope
The project involves replacing the existing distribution system within the Pocahontas Water System on the West Virginia side. The work will serve customers in West Virginia and will include upgrading the line to provide fire flow. The project area includes the communities of Nemours, Yards, and Wolfe along County Route 102. The goal is to replace deteriorating waterlines and meters to significantly reduce water loss in the system.
